The issue that I have experienced was: Christmas Day my Son and I had booked for Christmas lunch. The charge was £69.75 each.
We arrived and were seated at a small table facing a wall and with a large glass window/door behind me with the sun streaming through blinding my son. He also has a music speaker above his head. He moved his chair so that we were actually elbow to elbow so he could avoid the sun. No attempt was made to help us.
The starter was a few tiny tiny prawns on some shredded lettuce and a slice of bread n butter with a tiny slice of salmon, only the prawns were eaten, The carvery meal was plentiful as we could help ourselves but I found the Turkey to be slightly underdone and nothing special with the rest of the meal. Then the dessert arrived, my sons was cold, ice cream honeycomb cake slice and he had a few mouthfuls before seeing that mine was so frozen solid that even the spoon made no dent! We complained to the waitress who offered to put it in the microwave!!! We declined, after complaining to her about all the points mentioned including no atmosphere, no Christmas music, our poor seating with blinding sun and the inedible dessert we left. I have had an apology and a phone call from the Deputy manager 'Dan' but I could not accept his explanation that it was a 'new' dessert and they had been instructed to serve it frozen! There was also a confusion that he could only find my booking for 8 people! The booking was for 2. He insisted that his colleague played Xmas music all day which I disputed, he had no explanation for the awful seating as 'he didn't do the seating plan' and he insisted that the Turkey was cooked, explaining in great detail how the carvery cook their meats..
This was Xmas Day, I was looking forwards to a lovely meal with a Christmassy atmosphere ( as I felt it was an expensive treat) this whole experience ruined my day, I thought as a good will gesture I would have been offered a refund at least especially after being told over 400 diners were there on Xmas day! I was offered an apology, that did not make up for the inadequate experience, the inedible dessert, the awful seating, the half eaten meal and the desire to get home! I am 72yrs young and this was my first ever Christmas spent away from my kitchen, the first and unfortunately the last!
I have no receipt as I paid over the phone and was told this was not available.
